The 67th annual Venice Film Festival held in Venice, Italy, took place from September 1 to September 11, 2010.[1] American film director Quentin Tarantino was the head of the awards jury.[2] John Woo was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement prior to the festival starting.[3] The opening film was Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan.[4] The Golden Lion for the best picture in main competition was awarded to the film Somewhere, directed by Sofia Coppola.[5] The Silver Lion award for best director was given to Alex de la Iglesia, for A Sad Trumpet Ballad.[6]
